Paul McGreevy Art
"The beauty in art (much like meeting a person) should be seen at first
from a distance with an initial attraction and then close up to admire the beauty
of a single brush stroke or dribble of paint."
About the artist
Paul McGreevy is a self-taught artist based in Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav, East of Prague. Originally from New Zealand, Paul has been living in the Czech Republic since 2014
As a kid in school Paul was always in the art room creating, often being chased by his English and Math teachers for not attending the classes he should have been in. It was all he was interested in and when he left school he knew exactly what he wanted to do for a job.
Paul worked in the advertising industry for 30 years as an art director and graphic designer working with ideas, layouts, composition, colour and images, to create campaigns for companies that needed to stand out visually from their competitors and have a visual identity that they could own.
As an artist Paul likes to experiment with shape, form and texture combining detailed and abstract elements with the intention of achieving harmony between the two juxtaposing styles.
His inspiration comes from many things, such as nature and wildlife, the beauty of the female form,
visual storytelling, humour, symbolism and the observations of the world.
For Paul, the beauty in art (much like meeting a person) should be seen at first from a distance with an initial attraction and then close up to admire the beauty of a single brush stroke or dribble of paint.
